Somali pirates still hold 200 hostages: EU mission

At least 60 merchant seamen have died as a result of their captivity in the hands of the pirates and many more have suffered torture and abuse.

NAIROBI (Xinhua) -- Somali pirates are currently holding 200 people hostage as they continue to demand ransom which is part of their business, keeping hostages away from their families during the festive season, the EU’s anti-piracy mission said.
