Australian Navy races to rescue Iranians in distress

AN Australian warship has rescued the crew of an Iranian vessel adrift in the Gulf of Aden with no food or water.

The captain of the motorised dhow sent out a distress call late last week saying his vessel was out of fuel, food and water off the eastern coast of Yemen.
The frigate HMAS Parramatta, 400 nautical miles away on a counter-piracy and terrorism patrol, "sprinted" to help and its helicopter found the dhow on Christmas Eve.
