NATO Alert Report: Suspicious Approach

The NATO Shipping Centre this evening reports a Suspicious Approach and alerts vessel Masters in the vicinity to be on alert. 
The report states that a merchant vessel was approached by a suspicious boat at position 13.03N-048.52E at 0730 UTC. The small boat was drifting approximately 6nm from the IRTC and later increased speed to approach the merchant vessl and then followed from its beam. The small boat did this for 15 minutes before ceasing its approach.

JAKARTA — A tsunami alert system for Indian Ocean countries officially kicked off Wednesday, almost seven years after massive tsunami triggered by a major earthquake off Indonesia's Sumatra Island left at least 230,000 people dead or missing.

The system has been promoted by UNESCO and supported by Japan and the U.S., following the realization that the lack of a tsunami warning system contributed to the scale of the disaster.
