Pirate operations are becoming increasingly difficult given the continued successes of counter piracy forces in the region, as well as the effectiveness of armed security personnel onboard commercial vessels. Three motherships were intercepted by naval forces last week, in a trend that has continued. Pirates have not been dissuaded, however, and a number of gangs have responded by fortifying their efforts and upping the scale of their operations.
