The modernization of the Philippine military is well under way. It had to take a security threat in the country’s territorial dispute with China in the West Philippine Sea for us to beef up our defense capability. For that we should thank the Chinese who want to take over the whole South China Sea.
To put the conflicting claims among China, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines in proper perspective, we are only claiming territorial waters off Palawan, or what we now call the West Philippine
