Naval Station Everett to get a big boost

EVERETT, Wash. - "It's pretty much a done deal," a spokesman in Rep. Rick Larsen's D.C. office said Tuesday, talking about plans to upgrade the ships homeported at Naval Station Everett. Three Frigates that will be decommissioned in the next six years will be replaced by bigger destroyers. That will mean a net gain in personnel of about 300 sailors. It doesn't sound like a huge population boom but all those sailors, when they're in port, have to eat, drive, buy clothes
