Measures underway to get Lankan fishermen released from Somali captives

Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that discussions are being conducted through an intermediary to get the release of the 6 Sri Lankan fishermen  and their vessel being held captive by the Somali Sea Pirates.
The pirates have demanded US$ 6 million for the release of the fishermen who are fromNegombo. The Minister said, that the same back-channels were used to secure the release of a Sri Lankan who was held captive last year.
