RETIRED commander John Wilkins (left) has spent a lifetime documenting the quiet dignity of the Royal Australian Naval Reserve.
Mr Wilkins, of Doncaster East, was awarded an OAM for his services to the naval reserve and preserving its history.
Since joining the reserve in 1960, Mr Wilkins, 79, has served as an officer while collecting documents, researching histories and publishing books and papers to shed light on what he says is an underrated organisation.
