The IMB's Piracy Reporting Centre carries details of an attack yesterday (Dec 4) off the coast of Oman. According to the report, a bulk carrier underway in position 20.39N-060.00E, approximately 70nm East of Masirah, Oman, came under attack at 09:15 UTC.
A single skiff (via NSC) chased and fired upon the carrier. The Master took "preventive" measures (not described) and the onboard armed security team fired warning shots, resulting in the pirates aborting their attack and moving away.
