CJ calls for new laws to deal with crime in high seas

New laws should be enacted to deal with crimes committed in the high seas, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has said.


Dr Mutunga said that Kenyan courts currently rely on English laws governing maritime crimes.


“Such a situation greatly inconveniences legal practitioners and the courts as the admiralty procedure and practice has to be constantly adapted to keep pace with numerous changes in the procedure in UK and which are customised to that specific jurisdiction
