Problem Compounded by Al-Shabaab Movements into Puntland

Since December, Somali pirates have been moving back to their old bases in Puntland, according to local officials who spoke to Somalia Report. A number of pirates fled from their residences here earlier in 2011, however they have reportedly regained their power bases in Puntland.
Officials told Somalia Report that pirates have moved back to their coastland residences near the Red Sea.
