On 17 January 2012, the Pirate Attack Group responsible for the attack on the merchant ship south east of Oman on 16 January (Alert 007) was disrupted. This PAG is no longer a threat to merchant shipping.
Naval Counter Piracy (CP) forces have been successful in disrupting Pirate Attack Groups (PAGs). Since the beginning of January 2012, approximately 70 suspected pirates have been detained. This may result in the pirates
