Is Maritime Piracy in Retreat, or just “Marking Time”?

Piracy is not a modern phenomenon. 2078 years ago Rome was in panic because pirates based in Crete were threatening Rome’s food supplies shipped from Egypt and North Africa. They were so worried that General Pompey was given 20 legions and 500 ships to solve the problem, which he did in just three months. It just proves what you can do with enough political commitment.
