Professor David J. Attard was recently elected as judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, having obtained the highest vote in the elections held at the UN headquarters in New York. Francesca Vella met him at his office at the University of Malta to discuss the various maritime challenges and the importance of the tribunal
