Seventeen Algerian sailors taken hostage by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean on January 1 may be freed within days, the Arab-language daily Ennahar said Wednesday, citing foreign ministry sources.
Neither the ministry nor the owners of the hijacked ship, MV Blida, could be reached to confirm the information.
"We heard this morning from Ennahar that our families will be freed," Fawzi Ait Ramdane, the son of one of the hostages, told AFP.
